sitting on the steps of the new south whales gallery we spotted an interesting man, I asked this man if could take his photo (not before camille had stolen my camera and taken the top photo) after I was done he explained to me that he was once a famous gynecologist and obstetrician who discovered a large number of birth defects in children of patients who were prescribed thalidomide (drug prescribed during pregnancy) he was once painted for the archibald prize. so this is the man that we all should thank for our working limbs.
he was named man of the year (1962), commander of the order of the british empire (1969), father of the year (1972) and officer of the order of australia (1977)
He probably forgot to mention that he was prosecuted for scientific fraud? www.westmeadwhistleblowers.com
